ODE TO THE ANGELS

We had no idea when we first walked in,
What to expect from the group within.
The square dance calls have been so confusing.
Watching us students has been quite amusing.

We apologize to Vic, our faithful caller,
For making you want to scream and holler.
Our feet would get tangled, our hands would get crossed,
Our brains would get mangled, and we all would get lost.

You’d put eight dancers into each square,
We’d mess you all up, but you didn’t care.
You’ve always been quick to smile and encourage
Those of us who would get discouraged.

We want to tell you that square dancing’s been fun,
And now we’re all sorry that these lessons are done.
So here’s to you angels, we give you our thanks,
We’re all looking forward to joining your ranks.
